YMCA of Coastal GA Launches Priceless Gifts Campaign

The YMCA of Coastal Georgia kicked off their annual Priceless Gifts Campaign on Monday, January 24, 2011.

In 2010 the YMCA provided $2.2 million in financial assistance to more than 25,000 children, individuals and families in their four county service area. The funds raised during this campaign will continue to support the financial assistance program at the nine branches of the Y.

The YMCA of Coastal Georgia has been a leader in the Coastal Empire, encouraging youth development, promoting healthy living, and helping to develop social responsibility among families since 1855. Their mission of putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all is the thread which runs through each of their programs and services.

By partnering with community churches, the YMCA of Coastal Georgia and its branches have helped to launch 14 churches in four counties. Many host their worship services right at the branch.

There are many other benefits the YMCA of Coastal Georgia has to offer in their nine branches, including their before and after school care programs known as Pryme Tyme. Each facility offers a variety of programs like day care, health and wellness, group exercise, youth sports, day camp, before and after school care, Pre-K, child watch, teen programs, community outreach, and corporate membership.

Chatham County has participated in the YMCA Corporate Membership Program since September 2006. “Our employees have expressed an appreciation for unlimited access to the nine branches in the Coastal Empire, as well as the programs offered for children. We have enjoyed this partnership,” said Tamala Fulton, MPH, Chatham County Employee Wellness Coordinator.

The YMCA Priceless Gifts campaign means investing in the life of someone else throughout the year. Every gift makes an ongoing difference – whether it’s a single father who needs a safe, nurturing environment for his children so he can continue working, or a child who will be given the chance to learn to swim.
