The Superintendent’s Student of the Month is Kea’erra Wilson, a senior at Groves High School. According to teacher Sally Stephens, “Kea’erra has consistently made A’s in her academic classes since she arrived at Groves High School. At the beginning of the year she was concerned about taking an AP Calculus class along with Honors Government and AP English Literature but she has maintained a 96 or better thus far in her senior year.”
She is the Groves High School Valedictorian 2010 and the Groves High School Star Student. But that does not say it all. This high achiever believes in balancing academics with extracurricular activities and community service.
Kea’erra was featured on Georgia Public Television as a Georgia Academic All-star Athlete. Since her sophomore year, she has served in the position of co-captain for the school’s volleyball team. She is a peer tutor and a monthly volunteer for American Red Cross blood drives.
Kea’erra’s future plans are to attend Georgia Tech University. When asked what motivates her, of course her response would be, “Failure occurs most when you don’t try your hardest.
The Superintendent’s Student of the Month program recognizes individual students at the monthly board meetings who have excelled in the area of academics, leadership, and community service. Kea’erra Wilson was recognized by Dr. Lockamy and presented with an award plaque and a $100 savings bond at the regular board meeting on Wednesday, March 3, 2010.
