The Savannah Development and Renewal Authority (SDRA) is pleased to announce the promotion of Ms. Monsia Washington- Williams to the position of Office & Activities Coordinator.
Monsia Washington- Williams received her Associate degree in Business Administration & Technology, from Savannah Technical College. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Strayer University of Savannah, Georgia. Mrs. Williams has 20 years of work experience in the field of Administrative and Office Management.
This background has provided her with a foundation to pursue employment with a variety of different local government and state entities and non-profit organizations. Mrs. Williams joined the Savannah Development and Renewal Authority (SDRA) in November 2004 as Administrative Assistant. Within three years of her tenure with SDRA, Mrs. Williams was promoted to Office Manager and was tasked with coordination of several key programs for SDRA.
SDRA is a public authority tasked to lead a coordinated strategy of economic development and civic design to strengthen Greater Downtown Savannah, with emphasis on the MLK and Montgomery Street Corridor and the Broughton Street Urban Redevelopment Area.
In her new position as Office & Activities Coordinator she will be responsible for managing the SDRA office, administering the bookkeeping activities, developing programs and initiatives to improve efficiency, and coordinating staff development initiatives. She is responsible for helping develop and administer the various planning and marketing initiatives of the SDRA. Mrs. Williams is a member of the Savannah Metropolitan Chapter of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators, Downtown Business Association, National Main Street Center and International Downtown Association. A wife and a mother of three, Mrs. Williams is actively involved in her Church and with other faith-based organizations.
In recommending Mrs. Williams for the promotion, SDRA Executive Director, Lise Sundrla, noted that “Mrs. Williams is a highly creative individual who is extremely dedicated to her work and tp SDRA. She maintains high standards for herself as well as those she works with, always quietly providing the necessary support to help her peers and coworkers succeed.”
