Wheaton College Students Spend their Spring Break Improving Savannah

Where will you find students volunteering for a great cause?

Wheaton College, a premier liberal arts higher educational institution, will send students to help build affordable homes through Habitat Savannah’s alternative break program. Habitat Savannah has hosted groups from the college for several years, and this year’s group numbers twelve.

The relationship, 10 years strong now, was born of a student’s determination and the college’s values. The student had a bright idea: transform spring break into an avenue of service by traveling to volunteer with Habitat Savannah.

For Habitat Savannah, the relationship yields volunteer labor as well as a significant financial boon: in ten years students have donated nearly $5,000 to build homes and improve Savannah. The Collegiate program continues Habitat Savannah’s efforts to engage youth between the ages of 18 and 25.

Wheaton College’s BreakAway group will volunteer at Habitat’s build and ReStore sites between March 9 and 16th.
