The West Chatham Middle School AVID program participated in AVID Day at Georgia Tech on Saturday November 7, 2009.

The group of 32 students and 6 adult chaperones left at 5:30 a.m. arriving in Atlanta at 10:30am. Georgia Tech and the Atlanta AVID office provided great Tour Guides allowing students and adults an in-depth look at the beautiful sprawling campus of Georgia Tech. The West Chatham Middle School group also ate a delicious lunch at the Varsity and watched the first three quarters of the Georgia Tech VS. Wake Forest televised football game. Students and adults returned to Pooler with a renewed excitement and motivation about the AVID program.

The AVID Program is a college preparatory class that provides motivated students with college readiness skills and real life college, community and career exploration.

The coordinator of the West Chatham Middle School AVID program is Ms. Ivory Graham.
