Webb Named 2012 District Teacher of the Year

The Teacher of the Year Gala was held on Friday, January 21, 2011 the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center.

The Gala is held each year to honor Teacher of the Year nominees from each school, and to name the Teacher of the Year for the next year.

The 2012 Teacher of the Year is Melissa Webb, second grade teacher at West Chatham Elementary School.

Webb is a graduate of Herschel V. Jenkins High School, and she went on to receive a degree in Early Childhood Education from North Georgia College. In 2009, she received her Masters in Reading Education from Georgia Southern University. Her foundation on teaching is based on positive reinforcement, tailored academic instruction and individual behavior plans based on observations of student needs and personalities.

In the words Josua, one of her students, “She is awesome and helps us a lot with hard things that me and my classmates don’t get.”
