Volleyball Returns to the Court and Hosts South Carolina State Monday

The Savannah State University volleyball team (0-20, 0-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) returns to the court after two weeks off to face South Carolina State University (0- 19, 0-4 MEAC) Monday at 5:30 p.m. in Willcox-Wiley Gymnasium.

This game was originally scheduled for Friday, Oct. 7, but the match was postponed due to Hurricane Matthew hitting the Savannah area.

Senior setter Caitlynn Masoe leads the Lady Tigers with 1.95 kills per set and is averaging 2.31 assists per set, 0.41 service aces per set and 1.86 digs per set, while freshman outside hitter Dominique Ingram is second on the team with 1.91 kills per set and leads the team with 0.73 blocks per set.

Senior Alee Quint leads the team with 4.77 assists per set, while senior libero Alexis Washington leads the team with 3.63 digs per set.

The last time the Lady Tigers were on the court, SSU fell to North Carolina A&T State 3-0 (19-25, 20-25, 25-27) on Sept. 30 and to North Carolina Central 3-0 (23-25, 11-25, 17- 25) on Oct. 2.

South Carolina State is also looking for its first win of the season as the Lady Bulldogs have lost to The Citadel 3-1, NCAT 3-0 and NCCU 3-1 in the last three matches. SCSU is led by Brianna Dafney with 2.79 kills per set, Fabiola Plaza with 5.02 assists per set and Alexis Moses with 2.43 digs per set.

The Lady Tigers continue their homestand with Bethune-Cookman University at 6 p.m. Friday and Florida A&M University at 1 p.m. Sunday for Senior Day.
