Union Mission Celebrates Graduation of 56th Starfish Culinary Arts Training Program Class

Jerome Green and Sherrod Hall graduated on April 8 as part of the 56th Starfish Culinary Arts Training Program Class.

This landmark program, spearheaded by Union Mission under the leadership of Chef Paul Buck, teaches culinary skills to local residents in need of job training.

At the graduation ceremony, Sherrod Hall shared his memories of what an impact his family had made on his life and how grateful he was for the guidance of the Starfish team as he learned the skills that will provide for him and his family in the future.

Jerome Green, a talented singer, performed an a cappella rendition of the song “I Found A Friend” by Lee Williams.

Both men plan to use their newfound abilities to gain employment in the Savannah area and hope to open their own restaurants someday.

This 14 week training program offers participants, culinary techniques, theory, basic ServSafe certification, life skills training and hands–on work experience through the operation of the Starfish Café. Job placement assistance is then provided to support each graduate as they take the next step.

Catering is also provided on-site or at a requested location.
