TybeeMLK Committee hosted the second annual TybeeDreamer Humanitarian Award Luncheon on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at The North Beach Grill.

Citizens of Tybee Island and Savannah came together at Tybee’s North Beach Grill to honor the Ladies of the St. Michael’s Thrift Shop. Once a year at the TybeeMLK Celebration in January, the TybeeDreamer Humanitarian Award is given to a person(s) or an organization that models Dr. King’s quote- “We can all be great…because we can all serve (others in some way)”

Mrs. Georgia Benton of Savannah, accompanied by Mr. Benton and family members, addressed the crowd on the subject of “Community”. Tybee Mayor Jason Beulterman also gave remarks.

Genevieve O’Conner gave remarks on behalf of The Ladies of the St. Michael’s Thrift Shop. The thrift shop has helped the Tybee community for 40 years. The thrift shop provides all manner of household items- it is fondly referred to as the Tybee Walmart. The thrift shop is owned by St. Michael’s Catholic Church and operated by The Ladies. The Dreamer Award went to the past, present and future Ladies of the St. Michael’s Thrift Shop. The luncheon was a wonderful connection across community boundaries.
