Town Hall Meeting On Police/Community Relations

On Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 6;30pm a town hall meeting on police/community relations will be held at the Auditorium in the Effingham County Board of Education. Racial tensions between communities and police have continued to rise across the country in small towns and large cities, on college campuses, and on city streets since the beatings and killings of unarmed citizens in Ferguson, MO, Staten Island, NY, and elsewhere. It appears, no highway or hamlet is exempt. The local Branch of the nation’s oldest civil rights organization is calling this town hall meeting in Effingham County in an effort to begin constructive community-centered dialogue which could result in a progressive agenda wherein the community and law enforcement work cooperatively addressing mutual concerns.
