On Sunday, June27, the National Organization of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. celebrated Founders’ Day. This organization has been in existence for 57 years providing service to youth and adults. TLOD was organized September 8, 1968, in Tyler, Texas. Presently there are over 100 chapters throughout the United Sates.
Lady Ozell Dean, last surviving founder, was also in the virtual observance and was recognized by the present President, Lady Sharon Beard. Additionally, all other founders (now deceased) were recognized by a Past President. Teen Quiana Morris, 2nd National Vice-President of Top Teens of America and a member of the Savannah Chapter, sang “Ocean,” and if we were all together, there would not have been a dry eye in the place.
To conclude National Founders’ Day, each chapter was asked to donate 57 food items to a shelter for Packing with a Purpose. The Savannah Chapter choose Inner City Night Shelter. A total of 94 items were donated on Friday, June 25.
