Tigers To Host Miami Hurricanes


The Savannah State University men’s basketball team will host the University of Miami (FL) Hurricanes in Tiger Arena on December 19. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and the contest will be carried on Comcast Sports South (CSS).

It will be the fourth match-up between the teams and the first meeting since the 2003-04 season. The teams have also met in 1989 and 2002. Miami holds a 3-0 lead in the series.

Savannah State has a 2-9 record.

The Tigers are led by a trio of senior players. Guard Devan Williams leads the SSU offense, averaging 12.5 points per game. Swing man Joshua Montgomery averages 8.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while center Jyles Smith chips in 7.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game. Junior point guard Terel Hall has 27 assists while freshman guard Jeremiah Hill scores 5.7 points a game.

As a team, SSU averages 62.9 points a game while giving up 70.3.
