Tigers Beat Kentucky State

 
 

The Savannah State men’s basketball team posted a 65-59 road win over Kentucky State on November 26.

The victory gives SSU a 1-0 conference record while they improve to 2-1 overall.

The Tigers led 36- 32 at the half as SSU shot 54 percent from the field and made 57 percent of their 3-point attempts in the opening period.

Leading by two, early in the second half, Savannah State went on a 16-5 run to open up a 13-point lead with 11:19 remaining. The Thorobreds never got any closer than five the remainder of the game.

Elavian Bowles had 12 points for the Tigers while Ayjay Plain chipped in ten points. Larson Ashford had eight rebounds.

On Nov. 22, Savannah State traveled to St. Augustine, Florida to face Flagler and returned home with a 86-50 setback.

With 11:40 on the clock, the Tigers were down by just seven points but Flagler went on a 21-0 run to start the blowout and SSU never recovered.

Savannah State trailed by 24 at the half and by as many as 38 in the second period.

Eleik Bowles, Plain and Warner Davis all scored 11 points for SSU while Ashford grabbed five rebounds.
