On Sunday, December 27, Miss Tiana Lanaye Thornton delivered her trial sermon Trinity Foundation Missionary Baptist Church.
Tiana was born October 3, 2002 to proud parents, Minister Torrence L. Thornton, and Miss Abby Douse in Savannah, Georgia. She is a first grade honor roll student at Bartow Elementary School, and participates in the Magnet Program.
As a member of Trinity Foundation Missionary Baptist Church, Tiana is an active Sunday School student, a member of the Angelic Choir, and a member of the Divinity Ministry, under the leadership of Pastor Hal P. McKinley.
Tiana is the granddaughter of Deaconess Saralyn Truedell, Ms. Cheryl Douse and Mr. Bernard Daise. She is the greatgranddaughter of Mother Rosa Truedell and Mother Margaret Jones. She is also blessed to have a great-greatgrandmother, Mrs. Sadie B. Wright of Hartford, Connecticut.
Tiana’s early call to the ministry is not surprising! Her lineage of gospel ministry extends back to her great-great-grandfather, the late Rev. Lawrence Washington, who pastored the Fifth Street Baptist Church here in Savannah from 1963-1967; and her father, Minister Torrence L. Thornton, who also serves in the Divinity Ministry here at Trinity Foundation.
One of Tiana’s absolute favorite songs, “The Shepherd Song” describes best how she wants to lead her life..Jesus is her shepherd, and she wants to follow Him!
