It was 1971 when President Richard Nixon declared the war on cancer. Pledging to find a cure and ending the ravages of cancer within ten years. Untallied billions of dollars later, and millions of unnecessary deaths, caner is the leading killer in America, second only to heart disease. The National Institutes of Health says the cost of cancer had reached an all time high in excess of $180 billion in 2000.

The war on cancer has involved attacking aberrant cells with deadly chemicals, cancer causing radiation and dangerous surgery. These war tactics kills both the diseased and the healthy cells. And even if patients survive these therapies, there weakened bodies struggle with health problems continuously and develop new diseases and the recurrence of tumors.

Plus, this method of cancer treatment does nothing to prevent the metastasis of cancer cells through out the body. Cancer develops as a result of damage to DNA cells, from environmental and chemical pollution, poor dietary habits and a weakened immune system.

Recent studies show that a simple combination of nutrients are able to stop cancer cells from spreading through connective tissue to other body systems. The same vital nutrients that stop the spread of cancer can also prevent cancer from taking hold from the beginning.

No surprise that a clean diet free of chemicals, pesticides, artificial ingredients, flavor enhancers, devalued white sugar, white flour, white rice, white bread, processed commercially prepared, boxed, canned, microwaveable, instant foods preserved for long shelf life – would be the diet of choice. When non-foods are eliminated, what is left would be what the body needs for optimal functioning – eleven servings of fresh fruits, fresh veggies, herbs, nuts, 100% whole grains, fish and water. Actually this looks like the foods from the Bible to me.

The war on cancer could well be over if finding a cure, or prevention, did not generate so much money. When billions of dollars are generated yearly, to find a cure, how quickly will you try to find a cure? Or, how many will jump on the bandwagon to get a piece of this big pie?

Lots of companies, pharmaceutical companies, wig makers and cosmetics makers, contractors and architects who build new wings on hospitals, and so many others are on the band wagon. Finding a cure for cancer, and learning to pre- vent cancer, is not even on the radar.

Creating health will have to be an individual pursuit. Changing our lifestyle, and making lifestyle choices which support health is the only way to maintain and regain health. So, to prevent cancer and to prevent a recurrence:

A. Build a strong immune system. The immune system is the body’s first line of defense against foreign invaders. B. Eat healthy. The right foods can kill us or cure us. Fruits and vegetables are rich in antioxidants, which help repair our damaged cells. C. Cut out cure meats, shellfish, and all fried foods. D. Exercise daily, is just one of the was the is detoxified. E. Take nutritional supplements. Everybody needs them, just be sure you are getting the correct one for you, and the correct quantity. F. Avoid chemicals in you personal environment and in your foods. G. Drink more water than you think you need. Clean, filtered water. H. If you smoke, stop. If you are in the company of smokers, leave. I. Limit alcohol to only 2 drinks per week, or less. J. Seek alternatives to x-rays when tests are needed. K. Do not feed your allergies. If you know you are allergic to milk, cheese, nuts, chocolate, anything, avoid it.

Scientists believe that we all have cancer cells floating around in our bodies today. But, the trick is to keep them to moving until they find their way out of the body, or are killed by our own cancer suppressor genes, ins the key. Not giving them a weak place to settle in and grow.
