The Marriott’s ballroom was filled to capacity Saturday night with beautifully clad attendees celebrating The Spirit of Excellence Business Award’s 13th annual Black-Tie Gala. A few of the guests had to be turned away because there were no available seats.

The attendees consisted of family and friends of the honorees, co-workers and loyal supporters who believe in the vision of The Spirit of Excellence Business Awards.

Award presenters included Brenda Roberts, Gwendolyn Green, Darrell Parker and Josey Sheppard. Additionally Scott Dempsey, General Manager from WTOC and Craig Harney served as Award presenters. WTOC, Savannah Herald Newspapers and The Savannah Tribune are longtime media sponsors for this annual event.

The Program consisted of a tribute to the late Pastor Gregg A. Tyson, 2005 Business of the Year Award recipient. Musical selections were performed by Rev. Joseph Jordan, Pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Okatie, South Carolina and Hardeeville resident Amar Wilkins, recipient of The Lt. Stacy L. Henderson Military Achievement Award. Music for dancing was provided by Darrell Parker, President of Godson Records.

A portion of the proceeds from the event are donated to Mrs. Diane Jackson to benefit The Young Men of Honor for educational and traveling purposes. Estelle Mannion, creator and producer thanks God for His blessings and the Low Country Communities for their continued support.
