The MLK, Jr. Observance Day Association, Inc. 2016 Calendar of Events


During The Interfaith Service, “The Words Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” will be presented Sunday, the 10th of January 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at the Bethel AME Church, 1814 E. 38th Street, Rev. Charles Purnell, Pastor.

Our 2016 theme winners, past theme winners and other area students of various faiths will read from Dr. King’s writings. Mr. Somi Benson-JaJa and members of SONATA will render the music.

All members of the clergy are invited to participate in the Memorial March of the Clergy.

The 2016 Business Community and Unity Brunch will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the International Trade and Convention Center, the Speaker will be Ms. Elaine Griffin, an award winning Interior Designer, Author and Speaker the donation is $50.00.

Sunday, January 17, 2016 the Citywide Memorial Worship Service will be held at the St. James AME Church, Rev. J. C. Roberts, Pastor. The church is located at 532 East Broad Street, at 5:00 p.m. The Speaker will be Bishop Rosa L. Williams, Pastor of the Everfaithful Baptist Church, Augusta, GA. Members of the clergy are invited to participate in the Memorial March of the Clergy.

Monday, January 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. the second Annual “We Are One” Concert featuring Huxsie Scott and the UU Church Choir will be held at the Unitarian Universal Church located at Troupe Square and Habersham Street.

Saturday, January 30, 2016 Express for Success

, a Career and Youth Talent Event will be held, 10:00 a.m-4:00 p.m. at the Coastal Georgia Center.

The Annual Rosa Parks Freedom Breakfast will be sponsored by the Evangelical Ministerial Alliance and will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. This event will be hosted by the Greater Gaines AME Church, Rev. Bernard Clarke, Pastor.
