“The Highywaymen” Exhibition At Beach Institute

An exciting new exhibit from the Collection of Ron and Linda Mosca, of Palm City, Florida and Savannah, Georgia is now open to the public at the Beach Institute. Reception: Thursday, July 30, 6-8:30 pm. The location will be Beach Institute 502 E. Harris Street| Savannah, GA 31401.

The exhibit features several well known Black Artists known as “THE HIGHYWAYMEN”. A total of 26 artists, one woman and twenty-five men, traveled the Highways of Florida from the early 1960’s to the early 1990’s selling oil paintings from the trunks of cars.

These artists were inducted into the Florida

Artists Hall of Fame in 2004. A Public broadcasting special was aired about them and several books written about them. Their paintings have been displayed at the White House and several are in the White House per- manent collection. This is a “DON”T MISS EXHIBIT”.
