Temple Of Glory Celebrates 30th Pastoral Anniversary

In November of 1984, the officers and members of then Garvin Temple Baptist Church gathered as a church family to select their third pastor in the person of Matthew M. Odum. January 2015 marks yet another illustrious milestone as the Temple of Glory Community Church Family will come together to honor their shepherd, Rev. Dr. Matthew M. Odum, Sr. for his 30 years of pastoral service, where he has served as pastor/teacher guiding his congregation to a greater appreciation for Kingdom excellence.

Rev. Odum is a native of Savannah, Georgia. He is the son of the late Mr. Willie Odum, and Mrs. Mary Odum. Bishop Odum has served the greater Savannah community and beyond in countless areas. He has held positions on numerous boards including: the American Red Cross, Savannah Metropolitan Planning Commission, the Westside Urban Health Board of Directors, St. Joseph’s/Candler African American Health Advisory Board. Bishop Odum is married to Lady Sheila Jenks Odum and they are the proud parents of three children: Tiffanie, Brittanie and Matthew II; and one grandson, Christian.

Celebration Services will begin on Sunday, January 25th during the 10 a.m. Worship Service with guest messenger, Dr. K. Gerone Free, Senior Pastor of the Greater Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Oklahoma City, OK. Dr. Free is the husband of First Lady Velva Free; the father of Erika and the grandfather of Kaylen Free.

To culminate this “Season of Celebration”, a semiformal gala will be held on Saturday, January 31st at 6:00 p.m. in The Eden Room. Tickets are $30.00 and can be secured at the church. For more information, please contact the church office: 233-8213 ext. 21 or 27.
