The Superintendent’s Student of the Month is Lauren Rose Cummings, a senior at Woodville Tompkins Technical & Career Institute (home school: Jenkins High). Lauren was selected for her leadership qualities and academic achievement. Lauren has exhibited outstanding achievement in and out of the classroom. While maintaining a full honors course load and participating in a number of organizations and school activities, Lauren maintains a 3.8 GPA and consistently goes above and beyond her teachers’ expectations. Lauren is the Chief Editor of the Yearbook/Newspaper, a member of the National Technical Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, Marching Band, Track & Field team and she’s also a Governor’s Honors Program nominee.

Lauren is very active in her community, as a member of the Chatham County Youth Commission, Sankofa Dance Theatre Junior Company, and was named Miss Savannah Teen USA in 2008.

After graduation, Lauren hopes to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse or Massage Therapist. So far, she has received acceptance letters to Mercer University and Valdosta State University. When asked what motivates her to be her best, Lauren says, “Success favors the prepared mind.”

An outstanding student and model citizen for her entire community, SCCPSS is proud to name Lauren Rose Cummings Superintendent’s Student of the Month.

The Superintendent’s Student of the Month program recognizes individual students at the monthly board meetings who have excelled in the area of academics, leadership, and community service. Lauren was recognized by Dr. Lockamy and presented with an award plaque and $100 savings bond at the regular board meeting on Wednesday, January 7.
