The Office of the Eastern Judicial Circuit/ Chatham County District Attorney announces that the Victim Witness Assistance Program, in conjunction with the Friends & Family of Homicide Victims Group, will be hosting ‘Savannah Needs Relief’, a community Stop The Violence Peace Rally, on June 29th, 2013, from 11am- 1pm on Emerald Drive, behind Greater Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church located at 1006 May Street.
This special event is open to everyone in the Savannh and surrounding communities. Family, food, and fun for everyone –featuring a Cook-Out with Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Chips and Drinks, as well as fun activities for the children; such as A Moon Bounce and other games.
This event will also feature local and elected official speakers; such as Savannah Mayor Edna Jackson, SCMPD Police Chief Willie Lovett, Savannah Fire Chief Charles Middleton, District Attorney Meg Heap, County Commission, City Council and other Municipalities. In addition, the rally will also have talks from local victims of violent crime and provide a forum for citizens in the community to raise their concerns and voice their comments. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn more about the programs and assistance that are available through the District Attorney’s Office Victim-Witness Assistance Program and Violence Intervention Program.
