The Savannah Technical College Foundation proudly honors Howard Morrison at its annual Opportunity Award Gala on Friday, December 2, 2011 in the Eckburg Auditorium on the college’s Savannah Campus, 5717 White Bluff Road.

This signature event helps the Savannah Technical College Foundation raise the private support necessary to fund student scholarships and other important projects that move the college forward in its mission of workforce development.

Howard’s banking career spanned nearly 30 years including being the chief financial officer of the NYSE listed Citizens and Southern Realty Investors (Southmark Properties) and in helping to develop the C&S Bank’s (now Bank of America’s) High Technology Banking Group and Atlanta’s high technology business community.

After retiring from banking in July 1996, Howard returned to his hometown of Savannah where he was instrumental in establishing the Coastal Business, Education & Technology Alliance (CBETA) [now the Creative Coast Alliance] (TCCa) and initiating and developing the Georgia Tech Savannah Campus.

This year Howard was the co-founder and chairman of the Savannah Ocean Exchange, which unites world organizations across multiple disciplines and boundaries to accelerate the distribution and adoption of solutions that positively impact our ocean and coast. Howard served on Savannah Tech’s Foundation Board for nearly nine years. He currently chairs the boards of the Georgia Tech Research Corporation and Georgia Tech Applied Research Corporation.
