On Sunday, October 20, 2019, the St. Philip Monumental A.M.E. Church will celebrate its annual Allen Turner Men’s and Women’s Day at 10:00am during morning worship. The preacher for this occasion is Rev. Benny Wilkey of Kissimmee, Florida.
A highly respected servant of God, Rev. Wilkey is a retired A.M.E. minister, as well as, a retired educator. His accomplishments are many. He has served many churches in Georgia, including the Savannah area. He also served as Christian Education Director of the South Georgia Conference.
Rev. Wilkey retired from the Jenkins County Board of Education in Millen, Georgia where he served as Chairperson of the Social Studies Department. He is married to his bride of three years, Dr. Mary Ann (Person) Wilkey. He is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. This service will commemorate the accomplishments and service of Bishop Richard Allen, the founder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and Bishop Henry McNeal Turner, a minister, politician, and a pioneer in Georgia organizing new congregations.
