Savannah State University National Alumni Association invites all of Savannah to come out to support our home-grown scholar and musical talent Kelvin Frazier, Ph.D. (SSU 2010 graduate), as he performs during the alumni “Jackets and Jeans Awards Extravaganza” at 9:00pm on Saturday, October 26th at the Savannah Marriott Riverfront Hotel. To reserve tickets for the event contact Mrs. Jennings at (912) 667- 7813. Tickets may also be purchased on Thursday, October 24 from 2pm -8pm at the SSU registration area at the hotel.

Residing in Los Angeles, this singer and songwriter, who goes by the name Kelvin Frazier, PhD, is not your typical artist in the music business. After all, his title “Kelvin Frazier, PhD”, is not just his stage names, it’s his real name with a real title. That’s because Kelvin is also a Chemist who graduated from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in Physical Chemistry. As Kelvin pursues his passion as a R&B musician, he also works as a R&D Electrochemist and teaches Organic Chemistry as an Adjunct Professor.

Kelvin Frazier, PhD, has proven himself worthy on both sides of his very different career paths. His single entitled “Marked and Scarred” reached the top 25 position on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs Chart, received FM Broadcast and Satellite Radio airplay across 29 stations nationally and streamed on Music Choice. His single also made the clearance to be played on television stations such as El TV Network, MTV Network, OWN Network and more. Kelvin has also opened for the Grammy Award Winning Recording Artist Mya (TKO tour) and Grammy Nominee MAJOR (Better With You In It Tour) in Los Angeles.

In May 2019, Kelvin released a new single called “Roller Coaster” that’s already been placed for retail airplay for stores like Walmart, Best Buy, Subway and more plus commercial radio airplay.
