SSU to hold Summit on Environmental Entrepreneurship

Savannah State University (SSU) will host the 2009 National Oceanic and Atmospheric (NOAA) Summit on Environmental Entrepreneurship on April 10, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Tiger Arena.

The summit is sponsored by the NOAA Educational Partnership Program.

“With a busy port here in Savannah, the environmental industry is at the core of the city’s economy,” said Dionne Hoskins, Ph.D., director of NOAA-sponsored programs at SSU. “The goal of the summit, now in its second year, is to expose high school, undergraduate and graduate-level students interested in the sciences to relative business and entrepreneurial careers.”

Professionals from a diverse spectrum of environment related businesses will be on hand to discuss career opportunities and offer advice on launching busi- nesses.

Speakers will help participants understand how students trained in science, technology, engineering and math and incorporate business skills into their technical training to create their own career niches.

Registration and lunch are free. For more information, call 912-352-8925 or send an inquiry to gis@savannahstate.edu.
