SSU Tennis Drop Two on the Road

The Savannah State Lady Tigers Tennis squad opened their season up Sunday with two losses to Florida Atlantic and Jacksonville University at Watson Family Tennis Complex in Jacksonville, Florida.

Savannah State faced off with Florida Atlantic first, as sophomore Sandra Dis Kristjansdottir fell to Florida Atlantic’s Justin Humair 6-0 and 6-1. Lady Tiger freshman Nicole Ashiedu, senior Shannon Howard, sophomore’s Chandel McDonie and Ge’Anne Hilton all fell in straight sets, setting the final score at Florida Atlantic 6, Savannah State.

The Lady Tigers saw some doubles action in their second match of the day as they took on the Jacksonville University Lady Dolphins.

The doubles team of Kristjansdottir and Ashiedu fell to team Aline Staudt and Natalia Marques Melibeu, 8- 3. Gabriela Scaff Haddad Bartos and Djessika Bezerra beat Savannah State’s Gheisary and McDonie, 8-1.

The Lady Tigers will host North Carolina A&T Sunday, January 29th at Tiger Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
