SSU National Alumni-South DeKalb Perimeter Chapter Supporting Students

SSUNAA- South DeKalb Perimeter Chapter, Celebrated its 21st Annual Scholarship Banquet on Friday, April 21, at Saint Philips AME Church located in Atlanta, GA. Michael Thurmond was scheduled as the guest speaker. However, the CEO of DeKalb County was called to appear at Paine College in Augusta, GA in support of selecting a new President. Meanwhile, South DeKalb Perimeter chapter awarded $10,000 in student scholarships.

Ariel Beavers, Bobbi Wilson and Erwin W. Dukes are renewals. Destinee Clark from Stephenson High School, Jaila Colvin from Arabia High School, Shelly Gruber from Martin Luther King High School, Tanner Rice from Parkview High School, Nikowa Robinson from Towers High School and Christopher Terry from Stephenson High School are entering 2017 freshmen.

Chapter President Dr. Judy Days-Dee along with Dr. Cheryl Dozier congratulated the scholarship recipients on their outstanding academic achievements and many of them are eligible for additional scholarship awards based upon other scholastic achievements.

Erwin W. Dukes received the Delaware Hall Jones Memorial Band Scholarship once again for his outstanding contribution in the Marching Tiger Band. Special thanks to the scholarship committee members: Florine Baker, Marie Pierce, Lewis Bacon, Robert Brown and Gwendolyn Smith.

SSUNAA- South DeKalb Perimeter Alumni Chapter will also make a contribution to their Endowed Scholarship Fund. Seriously Impressive!
