The Savannah State University football program officially starts its 2018 season when the team reports to campus for preseason camp on July 30th.
The Tigers have 25 practices and one scrimmage before opening the season on August 30 when SSU travels to the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
The Tigers’ first practice of 2018 will be at 8 a.m. on August 1.
The team will practice in helmets on August 1st and 2nd, in shells on August 3rd and 4th and in full gear on August 5th.
During camp, the squad will have some team-building exercises that will include 7-on-7 coaches vs. linemen; a rock, paper, scissors tournament; and mental training.
The first day of classes for all Savannah State students will be on August 13th.
The team conducts a scrimmage, free and open to the public, on August 18th at 1 p.m. at Theodore A. Wright Stadium.
Entering Raeburn’s third season as head coach, the Tigers are coming off of a 3-8 season and return 61 letterwinners, which include nine offensive starters and seven defensive starters.
