Tigers Down Carver 98-60

Alante Fenner led five Savannah State players in double figures as the Tigers defeated Carver Bible College 98-60 in Tiger Arena on November 30. Fenner had 17 points, six rebounds, five steals and four assists. Zach Sellers had 16 points while Dexter McClanahan scored 13, Ralueke Orizu had 12 and Ty’Lik Evans chipped in 10. Wichita State pounded SSU 112-66 on Nov. 28. The crowd of 10.506 saw the 8th ranked Shockers shoot 53.9 percent from the floor and out-rebound SSU 67 to 31. Fenner scored 18 points for the Tigers while Austin Dasent netted 15 and Mc- Clanahan added 10.

William and Mary paid a visit to Tiger Arena on December 2 and left with a 108-85 win over SSU. The Tribe looked like a welloiled machine against SSU as they out-rebounded Savannah State 52 to 29. Javaris Jenkins had 20 points for SSU, who fell to 3-7. Fenner added 17, Sellers had 14 and Dasent contributed 11.

SSU Women Upend Georgia Southern

The Savannah State women’s basketball team rallied from a 12-point deficit and went on to defeat Georgia Southern 71-67 in a game played November 29 in Statesboro. SSU trailed 22- 11 after one quarter of play

and 31-26 at the half. The Lady Tigers outscored GSU 20-12 in the third quarter to go ahead 46-43 to start the final period. The fourth quarter went back and forth but SSU prevailed 25-24 to walk away with the four point victory to snap a four game losing skid. Donasja Scott had 15 points and 11 rebounds for Savannah State (2-4) while Kaylee Allen had 15 points and seven assists. Jazmine Bartlett added 12 points and Jacqueline Anderson contributed 11 points.

Bethune Baseball Coach Leaves After spending just over

six years at the helm of the Bethune-Cookman baseball program, Jason Beverlin has decided to step down as head coach of the Wildcats. The Royal Oaks, Mich. native is set for a new challenge, as he departs B-CU to become a regional scout for the Toronto Blue Jays in Major League Baseball (MLB). In his new job, Beverlin will scout the areas of North Carolina and South Carolina, respectively. Beverlin compiled a record of 179-176, helping the Wildcats win the 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament titles.
