Morgan State 42 SSU 3

All season long, Savannah State’s offense has been able to move the ball but has had a tough time finding the end zone. October 10 in Baltimore, Maryland was no different as the Tigers lost to Morgan State in a game played at Hughes Stadium before a crowd of 2479. SSU had their most productive day of the season, gaining 313 yards with a balanced offense of 160 yards on the ground and 153 passing. The Tigers trailed 7-0 in the second quarter before John Barron booted a 28 yard field goal with 7:21 left before halftime. The second half belonged to Morgan State (3-2) who scored 35 unanswered points. Their final two touchdowns came from SSU mistakes. In the fourth quarter, Peterson Janvier returned a missed field goal 100 yards for a touchdown and Brandon Griffin returned a fumbled 30 yards for a touchdown. Both teams made their share of mistakes with MSU getting 16 penalties for 166 yards while the Tigers (1-4) had 12 penalties for 80 yards. Seeing his first action of the season, redshirt junior quarterback Leon Prunty came off the bench to throw for 114 yards for SSU. Richard Williams ran for 69 yards while Ker-Sean Wilson had six catches for 69 yards. Leonardo Myers and Trevion Ashford each had six tackles for the defense. The Morgan State defense hassled SSU all day and ended the game with four sacks, three interceptions and a fumble recovery.

Norman, Alante Fenner and Saadiq Muhammad have all enrolled at new schools. Norman is set to play at South Georgia Tech while Fenner is at Francis Marion and Muhammad is at Valdosta State. Norman averaged 4.2 points and 2.8 rebounds for SSU last season while Fenner averaged 9.2 points and 4 rebounds and Muhammad averaged 6.7 points and 4 rebounds.

Trailing 24-17 , North Carolina Central scored 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, in win over Florida A&M, before a crowd of 9,263 at Bragg Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida. The Eagles led 17- 10 in the second quarter before FAMU added a touchdown in the second quarter and another one early in the third for a 24-17 edge. NCCU scored the game-tying touchdown with just over five minutes left in the contest and with 15 seconds remaining, Nigel MaCauley kicked the game-winning field goal from 20 yards. The Eagles improved to 2-3 while FAMU fell to 0-6.
