SSU Football Camps A Success

The Savannah State football staff held their first set of football camps recently and head coach Earnest Wilson III called it a success. SSU held a pair of Orange and Blue camps for rising high school freshmen through rising seniors on June 13 and 19. The first camp drew about 150 participants from 13 states while the second camp had over 100 players from 16 states. Wilson said the purpose of the camps were to teach fundamentals and techniques and work ethic and to identify potential recruits for the program.

While Wilson was pleased with the overall turnout, he had hoped to have more locals attend. Participants came from around the country from states such as Georgia, Missouri, Texas, Florida, South Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Maryland, Illinois, Alabama, North Carolina, Indiana, Tennessee and California. The camp was only $40 per person.
