Sophomore Valeria Aldarondo Wins SIAC Setter of the Week Award

 
 

Savannah State sophomore Valeria Aldarondo was named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Volleyball Setter of the Week, the conference announced in a press release on Tuesday.

In a 3-0 win over SIAC foe Paine College this past week, Aldarondo racked up 41 assists with no set errors and 13 kills. The Isabela, Puerto Rico native has started in all 13 Lady Tiger matches this season, recording 111 assists in four games over the past week.

The Lady Tigers continue their season with two home games this week. They play Benedict College in Tiger Arena on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. and face a rematch with Fort Valley State on Friday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. in Tiger Arena.

Kentucky State swept the rest of the SIAC Volleyball awards this week. Robin Poole was named the Offensive Player of the Week after she earned a team-high 32 kills in a game against Salem.

Teammate Oyuky Benitez was awarded SIAC Defensive Player of the Week after recording 46 digs over three games and Sasha Bills was named Newcomer of the Week after dishing out 79 assists in three matches.
