Silver Cheetahs “Golden” In Hampton, Georgia

The Savannah Chatham Silver Cheetahs competed in the 2014 AAU Region 8 National Qualifier Track & Field meet June 26 – June 29th in Hampton, Georgia. The athletes returned with ten (10) gold medals and most of the team qualified for the National Junior Olympic Games. Athletes that fell short of qualifying have a second chance at the AAU Disney Club Championships which will be held July 7th – July 13th at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort. The Cheetah athletes have proven once again that hard word does pay off. Below are the results of the 2014 AAU Region 8 National Qualifier:

Gold medalists: Na’Seir Samuel in the 8U Boys Long Jump 12-02.25; Jalen Deloach in the 12 Boys 80H with a time of 13.44; Jalen Deloach in the 12 Boys Long Jump with a distance of 16-05; Jeremy Smith in the 14 Boys High Jump with a distance of 5-06; Kalen Deloach in the 14 Boys Discus with a distance of 124-06; Kalen Deloach in the 14 Boys Javelin with a distance of 89-06; Zhane Roberts in the 17-19 Men Javelin with a distance of 133-0; Na’Seir Samuel (shown in attached photo) in the 8U Boys 100 with a time of 14.08; Kion Hayes in the 10 Boys Long Jump with a distance of 15-01.50 and Taylor Deloach in the 17-19 Girls Long Jump with a distance of 18-07.50.

The Silver Cheetahs have done a remarkable job this season. The AAU National Junior Olympic Games will take place July 26th – August 2nd in Des Moines, Iowa.
