Silver Cheetahs Dominate South Florida with World-Class Performance on World-Class Track


 
 

The Savannah- Chatham Silver Cheetahs spent Memorial Day weekend competing in Miramar Florida at Ansin Sports Complex, home to a stateof the-art Track that is the only one of its kind in the United States. It is an exact replica of the Beijing track & field venue utilized in the 2008 Olympic Games.

The Silver Cheetahs won thirty-nine (39) gold medals, twenty (20) silver medals and seven (7) bronze medals. With over a thousand overall points, it’s no surprise that they earned a First Place ranking at the South Florida Memorial Day Invitational Meet. With athletes ranging in age from four (4) to sixteen (16) and ranging in experience from newcomers to seasoned veterans, this weekend’s accomplishment was quite a feat!

The Gold medalists are as follows: Jamia Washington; Donesha Beach; Taylor Deloach; Jalisha Knight-Young; Jade Stokes-Young; Austin Johnson; Jaylen Deloach; Shannon Truly; Immanuel Davis; Salvador Calderon; John Kennedy; Reginald Weathers; Demetris Robertson; Youth Boys (Demetris Robertson, Timothy Leeks, John Kennedy and Salvador Calderon); Mike Dash; Walter Davis; and Shidel Williams.

The Silver medalists were as follows: Katelyn Johnson; Jalisha Knight; Ndidi Doe; Young Women (Jalisha Knight, Ndidi Doe, Corey Edwards and Jade Stokes); Primary Boys (Chris Glover, Jtavious Johnson, Jquavious Johnson and Damien Clarke); Jquavious Johnson; Shannon Truly; Jaylen Deloach; Immanuel Davis; Jamar Washington; Salvador Calderon; Jeremiah Coxton-Dease; Tariq Khalil-Washington.

Bronze medalists are as follows: Taylor Deloach; Raven Weathers; Damien Clarke; Shannon Truly and Walter Davis.

The Coaches, Parents and Administrative Staff of the Savannah-Chatham Silver Cheetahs are extremely proud of the athletes for an awesome performance.

The team will soon compete in Augusta, Georgia for a chance to advance to the MU National Championships in New Orleans, LA. The week-long Junior Olympic Games hosts thousands of athletes annually who all strive for the distinction of being ranked amongst the TOP 8 in the nation.

Most of our Cheetah veterans have achieved this distinction in previous championships, so they can only hope to get better and better with each year of competition.
