Sigma Tau Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated on Armstrong Atlantic State University’s campus, cordially invites the community to their Annual Founders’ Day Celebration. The observance will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in University Hall, room 157 on the campus.
The speaker will be Ms. Charletta Wilson Jacks, International Membership Chairman for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Ms. Wilson Jacks is a product of the Chatham County Public Schools where she graduated from A. E. Beach High School. She is also a graduate of Howard University – Washington, D.C. and received a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Public Policy Analysis and Urban and Regional Planning Administration from Clark Atlanta University.
Ms. Wilson Jacks possesses over twenty years of experience in managing design and construction projects and in community development and currently is the Director of Planning for the City of Atlanta. She has been a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority for thirty-four years and is a life member. Ms. Wilson Jacks has served Alpha Kappa Alpha on the local, regional and international levels. On the regional level, she was elected to serve two two-year terms as the South Atlantic Regional Representative to the Alpha Kappa Alpha International Nominating Committee. On the international level, she has served as a member of the International Building and Properties committee and the International Program Committee. In July 2010, she was appointed as the Chair of the International Membership Committee by the 28th International President of alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Attorney Carolyn House Stewart.
She is a member of Lambda Epsilon Omega Chapter of DeKalb County, Georgia where she has served as President, Graduate Advisor, Secretary, Treasurer and Chief Protocol Officer. She has been elected as the Chapter’s “Soror of the Year” three times since becoming a member of Lambda Epsilon Omega.
Ms. Wilson Jacks is married to Bernard Jacks and they are the proud parents of one son, Ricardo Wilson Jacks. She is a member of Saint Phillip A.M.E. Church and is the daughter of Mrs. Dorothy B. Wilson of Savannah, Georgia.
