Serena Williams, age 33, has been breaking records since she first set foot on Open Tennis courts. Now being the oldest competitor to win an Open tournament, she is not done breaking records yet. She is now only one Open Win from completing a Grand Slam within one calendar year at the US. Open. A Grand Slam meaning she would have won all four of the Major tennis Tournaments which include The Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and The US Open. This feat has not been accomplished since 1988 and only four tennis players in history have ever done it, two of them women and two males.
Ms. Williams now holding the No. 1 title in women’s singles in tennis today is only 3 wins away from tying with Margaret Court for the most career single wins, which has a total of 24. Her latest win was at Wimbledon, where she beat competitor Garbine Muguruza in a straight-set victory, 6-4. In only a little over a month she will be competing in the Us Open at flushing meadows, where she will be undefeated in an open match for over 400 days, 429 to be exact. Serena is a force to be reckoned with and is a must watch and favorite at the upcoming open.
