Senior Citizens, Inc. Receives Grant

Senior Citizens, Inc. (SCI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people age successfully, was awarded a $8,640 grant from the Home Instead Senior Care Foundation. Rachel Carson, local owner of Home Instead Senior Care and a member of the Foundation, presented the check to SCI President Patti Lyons on October 20. The grant will help fund SCI’s Aging Life Care (ALC) program, which provides one-on-one planning and oversight of care for seniors. The ALC program helps families of older adults plan for optimal living, touching on areas of health, home, legal, finance, crisis intervention, family well-being, advocacy and local resources. SCI’s licensed Aging Life Care specialist works with seniors and their families to deal with current and future care needs by comprehensively assessing physical, emotional, cognitive, social, environmental, and financial care needs.

“In an attempt to bring SCI’s ALC program to anyone who needs it, the grant will help establish a special fund for those who do not have the resources to pay for the program out of pocket,” said Lyons. “The ALC program helps us serve both the family and the senior, finding the balance that allows quality of life for all. with various situations and needs.”
