Nearly 40 SCCPSS middle school students from four schools participated in an Induction and Recognition Ceremony for the newly developed SCCPSS Junior Police Academy Thursday evening. The National Junior Police Academy (JPA) is a multi-year year long program that is structured to simulate a professional Police Academy experience for youth between the ages of 10-18.
The Goals and Objectives of the Program are to:
•Provide young citizens with an Introduction to Law Enforcement.
•Bridge the gap between today’s youth and law enforcement officers.
•Motivate young people to be outstanding citizens.
•Empower them to act as a positive influence in their community through service learning activities. • Provide students with field experiences by working with local law enforcement agencies.
Students accepted into the Junior Police Academy will be required to complete a six week Cadet Training Program.
The Induction Ceremony was held Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Woodville-Tompkins Technical & Career High School (151 Coach Joe Turner St.).
