Savannah College of Art and Design received a rebate check in the amount of $25,466.38 for participating in Georgia Power’s Energy Efficiency Program. SCAD replaced standard lighting with LED lighting in 41 of its facilities, resulting in energy savings comparable to that of taking 51 U.S. homes off the grid for one year.

These funds will be reinvested in community efficiency goals and benefit scholarships for SCAD’s design for sustainability major, one of the only programs in the U.S. to educate and advocate the economic benefits of sustainable design practices. Executive director of physical resources Helen Morgan and SCAD electrician Robin Screen will be available for a media and photo opportunity to highlight this environment friendly SCAD initiative.
