Recently, the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Buzz Bus program made a surprise donation to benefit 1,067 students, faculty and staff at Windsor Forest High School, located at 12419 Largo Drive Savannah, Georgia, 31419.
SCAD volunteers and mascot Art the Bee surprised the students, teachers, and administrators with art and educational equipment, including media carts, choir risers, slide projectors, and a digiboard. The donations will assist with their school’s art and academic programs, which emphasize rigorous learning experiences and creative critical thinking in preparation for college and careers.
Windsor Forest Sophomore Ja’Nautica Williams was presented with a Summer Seminar Scholarship to fully explore and experience the college opportunities offered at SCAD. Additionally, SCAD Furniture Design professor Sheila Edwards presented SCADpad, a unique microhousing prototype designed by SCAD students and faculty.
The Buzz Bus program, which started in 2010, has positively impacted more than 9,400 children since its inception. The SCAD Buzz Bus makes frequent surprise visits to local elementary and middle schools and other youth-centered organizations to promote art education through one-on-one student workshops, book readings, musical performances and art supply donations.
