Savannahians Rally Behind First Komen’s Race For the Cure


 
 

Mark A. Goldstein, age 76 introduces himself by saying that he has been given an opportunity and whatever contribution he can make is an effort to take advantage of that opportunity.

Mark is a member of National “Honorary Team New Balance,” created by New Balance Athletic Shoe.

Annually, he participates in many Susan G. Komen “Race for the Cure” events throughout the country. He will “team up” with a local Savannah survivor who will be named as a “local HTNB” member to be announced and honored Saturday morning at Savannah’s 1st annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®.

Mr. Goldstein participated in 14 races in 2008 and thus far has participated in 1 in 2009. His total since 1992 is 190 races! Mark has run in every Komen Race in the USA International.

This weekend marked his 191st race.

April 18. August is being honored for her personal perseverance against breast cancer and her dedication to raising breast cancer awareness.

Ms. White found her lump sometime in September 2006.

“I would have considered myself somewhat informed about breast cancer

but very naive about its ability to impact anyone in my

life, especially me. I had just had a baby and everyone thought my lump was from breast feeding and mastitis,” stated August. She accepted this without question as no one expects a 32 year old to get breast cancer. She first became involved in the fight against breast cancer by meeting other survivors of breast cancer.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is one of the nation’s largest private funders of breast cancer research and community outreach programs dedicated solely to breast cancer.
