After three days of heated competition, Savannah State’s Cedomir Ilic finished at the top of the field in the 26th annual PGA Minority Golf Championship, held on the Wanamaker and Ryder Course at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The Savannah State men’s golf team tied for a third place finish, seven strokes behind the winners.
Ilic, a senior from Serbia, took medalist honors in the Men’s Division I after shooting a three day total of 220 (76-72-72). The Tiger’s tied for third place with Mid- Eastern Athletic Conference rival Bethune-Cookman with a three-day total team score of 911. Savannah State shot a 304 and 308 in the opening two rounds for a fourth place standing, but improved in the third round with a 299 on Sunday.
For the Tigers, Travis Roe shot a 231 (76-79-76), followed by Ryan Lassiter who shot a 233 (75-82-76). Brandon Neals finished the tournament with a 236 (77- 84-75), tied with Calib Simons (80-75-81).
The tournament featured nearly 180 players representing over 40 colleges and universities.
