Savannah State Women’s Golf Competes In Bulldog Invite


The Savannah State women’s golf team continued the 2015 spring season with a trip to the annual Bulldog Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla., hosted by Butler University.

The Lady Tigers finished in 7th place with a two-round team score of 734. They opened with a team score of 374, and improved on their opening round score with a 360 in the final round.

SSU newcomer Rachelle Orme led the Lady Tigers with a two-round score of 176. Orme opened with an 87 and finished with an 89. Sydney Woolfolk followed Orme with a 182 (90, 92).

Abigale Drew shot a 185 (96, 89), followed by Margaret Wilson with a 191 (101, 90).

Youngstown State won the tournament with a team score of 630, followed by Butler (631), Southern Indiana (641), Center Michigan (658), Valparaiso (660), Hampton (676), and Palm Beach Atlantic (752).

Butler’s Jenna Peters won individual medalist honors with a two-round score of 152 (78, 74).

The Lady Tigers continue the season with the Florida A&M Spring Invitational in Tallahassee, Fla. FAMU is a fellow member school of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).

Although women’s golf is not on the MEAC roster, SSU will host a MEAC Showcase of women’s golf on April 26- 28 in Savannah, Ga. After three years of men’s golf showcases, the sport was added to the MEAC roster last year. The first MEAC Championship was held in Savannah.
