On Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, Savannah State University held its 177th commencement ceremony in Tiger Arena. About 170 students received undergraduate and graduate degrees. Frederick S. Humphries, Ph.D., president emeritus of Tennessee State University (TSU) and Florida A&M University (FAMU), served as the guest speaker.

Among the graduates was Cherrelle Hagins who received a BA in Criminal Justice.

On Sunday, December 12, 2010, University of Phoenix Savannah Campus, held a commencement ceremony and recognized about 350 graduates. Among the graduates were

Simon Bailey, a highly sought-after motivational speaker was the guest speaker. Student speaker Elijah J. Powell III, a Savannah photographer and graphic designer, spoke on behalf of the graduates with inspiration for the future. He was chosen by University of Phoenix Savannah Campus staff for his passion and public speaking talents.
