Savannah State Athletics Administration announced new sponsorship packages this week, opening the door for businesses and fans to support the program in ways they never have been able to before.

The new sponsorship packages are a fresh concept for the Tigers, created by Director of Athletics Opio Mashariki. From facility signage to web banners, businesses can sponsor Savannah State Athletics in myriad of ways during the upcoming 2020-21 season.

Prices for sponsorship packages range from $250-$2,500 and include multiple arenas of exposure and types of ads including premier advertising spots on the Tigers’ website—which boasts over three million unique hits every year.

Season tickets for the 2020 season, which features a rare six home games, range in price from $120-$180. Due to the novel COVID-19 pandemic, home football games in the 2020 season will be limited capacity. It is recommended fans who wish to see the Tigers live, purchase tickets as soon as possible.

The COVID-19 pandemic hurt every facet of America’s economy. Universities in the University System of Georgia have all had to cut budgets. Those cuts trickle down to athletics programs. Savannah State’s new sponsorship packages will be a vital source of revue in the upcoming year—money that will be directed into scholarships, equipment, uniforms and other expenses.

Savannah State football opens the 2020 season on Sept. 5. They play six home games throughout the fall, including five back-toback. Savannah State women’s volleyball opens their 2020 season on Sept. 11 with a home game against Benedict College.

Both teams will via for Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championships this season after Savannah State rejoined the conference last year.
