The Savannah Development and Renewal Authority (SDRA) hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for Savannah Sewing Academy Friday, September 9, 2011, at 4:30pm at 1917 Bull Street across from Bull Street Library. Celebrating their Grand – Savannah Sewing Academy, announces debut in one the Historical Gingerbread Houses, at Thomas Square Park!

Savannah Sewing Academy will be devoted to promoting and educating the teaching of sewing by industry standards, master classes, fashion incubator, and fine arts in the community of Savannah.

Savannah Sewing Academy raises the bar for designers by introducing the Fashion Incubator to help young fashion designers and product developers create their own line and make their mark on the world of fashion. This incubator will take them from the small market to larger arena.

“This insight comes, because there is a big difference between small business and big business operations in the clothing and textiles production,” says Master Tailor, pattern maker, designer, sewing instructor and clothing manufacturer, James Lee McFarland, “Gentleman Jim”.

Savannah Fashion Incubator available, Monday-Friday, 10:00am – 7:00pm. You can reach “Gentlemen Jim” at 404-213- 6684. SavSew hours of operation Sunday-Saturday 10:00am to 7:00pm Along with the Fashion Incubator, and sewing classes, SavSew will include a Designer’s Boutique & Fine Art Gallery.

This most anticipated, long awaited gallery of Artists and Designers original work is presented by Gio’Vairs Galleries of Art, Art Advocate- Curator, V.P. of Fashion Marketing-Management and Artistic Visionary, Arlesia Hill.

Gio’vairs Galleries of Art is a community based arts collective that encourages selfexpression through fashions, designs, visual art, sculptures, music, poets/writers, and the culinary arts.

Educational courses, lectures, seminars, entertainment, and other annual events will also be held throughout of the year. We believe that this is an essential part of any thriving community.

A glimpse of featured Designers and Artists will include nationally renowned Artists, Raphael Sagage, Sensuous Sculpture, Donn Smith, Leisha Starchia, Dakoro Edwards, Lauren Monger, Marquita Wallis, Jewelry Designer, Marlena Siciliano and “Amazing” handmade Leather Handbags, Belts and Accessories by, Artists and Fashion Designer, Simpson.
