Savannah Nonprofits Receive Grants From Stevens Hale & Associates

Stevens Hale & Associates is pleased to announce the distribution of grant allocations to two local nonprofit organizations. The Royce Learning Center and the Savannah Center for Blind and Low Vision (SavannahCBLV) each received $400 from the Savannah insurance agency to help fund programs and services. “As a member of the President’s Club with the Selective Insurance Group, our agency was selected to receive grant money, with matching gifts from the company’s Foundation, totaling $800, to be distributed to not-for-profit organizations in our community,” said Dana Stevens, account executive with Stevens Hale & Associates. “I have a professional and personal connection to both of these local groups and am so pleased to be able to provide this funding.”

Stevens currently serves on the Royce Learning Center’s board of directors and is the insurance agent for SavannahCBLV. “We were delighted to receive the money,” said Lois Modell, executive director of Savannah Center for Blind and Low Vision. “It came at a great time because we were in need of new canes and this $400 allowed us to buy eight new canes for our clients who may not be able to afford a good cane. These canes will serve them well and last a long time.” “We’re always thrilled when we are given grants and donations, and this money will be used to assist with our adult literacy program,” said Ron Wilson, director of the Royce Learning Center. “For every dollar invested in literacy, $33 goes back to community. Statistics show that people who learn to read are more likely to be able to get off government assistance and become more of a contributing member of the community.”

The Selective Insurance Group Foundation offers grants to not-for-profit, 501©(3) organizations in the communities in which the company serves and operates that provide health and human services, promote civic responsibility, and support home, auto and business safety.
