Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! This isn’t your typical Thanksgiving feast! Savannah Feed the Hungry is proud to announce that this year’s Thanksgiving dinner for the working poor and homeless will be attended by some very special guests from the UniverSoul Circus.
This year, the circus’ charity focus is on donating towards ending hunger. The circus also donated several tickets so that the children of working poor families can come see it’s amazing show.
The 3rd annual Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless and working poor will be on Tuesday, November 22nd at the Salvation Army on Bee Rd. from 5-8pm.
A second dinner wiII be held the following day at Feed the Hungry’s Life Center on Highway 21 from 5-8pm.
This dinner is being brought with support from our proud sponsors: WSOK 1230, Love 101.1, 94.1 The Beat, Wellcare, Durden Consulting, Roger Wood Foods, and the U.S. Army’s the B.O.S.S. Program.
Savannah Feed the Hungry began operations in 2009 with a Thanksgiving Dinner for the homeless and working poor. After seeing the overwhelming response from the community, it became apparent that attending to the needs of the poor and homeless only once a month was not enough.
Since then, Savannah Feed the Hungry has strived to quickly expand it’s services to include components to help meet the needs of the people in their daily lives. This includes weekly produce giveaways, emergency assistance, and educational exposure.
