SCCPSS social workers presented $1,465 to the American Red Cross for relief efforts in Haiti on Thursday, March 4.

The funds were raised at the Silent Auction & Bake Sale held on the 4th at the Board of Education Building in recognition of school social workers week. School social workers week is March 1st through March 5th.

The SCCPSS social workers are under the direction of Dr. Quentina Miller- Fields, Senior Director of Pupil Personnel Services.

Dr. Quentina Miller- Fields said, “The social workers decided to hold the event as their way of giving back.”

The event was successful due to the collaboration of the social workers and several contributions from local merchants. Contributors: AVIA Hotel, Baker’s Pride, Barnes Restaurant, Carey Hilliard’s Restaurants, Charles Rudd Color Salon & Boutique, Donna’s Delicious Delights, Emme’s Designs, Fuddruckers, The Inn at Ellis Square, Kim Lewis, The Mansion on Forsyth Park, Westin Savannah Harbor, and individual donations from the Social Work and Pupil Personnel Department of SCCPSS.
