Savannah Chapter of TLOD, Inc. Celebrates Graduating Top Teens

Each year the Savannah Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. honors graduating seniors of Top Teens of America, Savannah Chapter, with a celebration banquet. In lieu of a banquet because of the Coronavirus, a committee of Ladies and Teens had to come up with an innovative way to celebrate the 2020 graduating seniors.

The Top Teen Advisor, Assistant, Teens and Service to Youth Ladies came up with the idea of a drive by with a brief celebration to each Teen’s home. Thirteen gift bags were prepared and one presented to each graduate. The committee made sure to practice social distancing.

Each senior was contacted and asked to be home between the hours of 5:50 and 8:30 pm to receive a graduation package. On Monday, May 11, 2020, the 9-car caravan with 12 Ladies and five Teens began in Port Wentworth then proceeded to Pooler, moved to the Southside and then to Montgomery Crossroads. On Tuesday, May 12, 2020, the caravan increased to 17 cars with 21 Ladies, five Top Teens and two former Top Teens.

Not expecting such a large group, the expression on the Teens faces spoke volumes when the caravan with decorated cars and honking horns pulled up to each home. Ladies and Teens getting out of cars, still practicing social distancing and wearing masks, presented each graduate with their gifts.
